Google Maps Engine for Business?

Google has offered its Google Maps Engine to visualize your custom geospacial data. GME includes the following features:

• It's a Cloud based service product for your geospatial data.

• It enables customers to create their own maps and publish for internal teams, or externally for the world to view.

• Customers' data overlays on top of Google Earth and Google Maps data.

• Completely hosted on Google infrastructure, no additional hardware or software required.

GME Working Process

As the figure shows, the process that you'll use to create and publish maps is fairly straightforward.

UPLOAD GEO-SPATIAL DATA -> STORE PROCESSED DATA -> STYLE VECTOR DATA / MERGE IMAGERY -> BUILD & PUBLISH MAPS

• Manage Data: Use intuitive tools to manage your mapping data hosted in Google’s Cloud

• Process Imagery: Utilize Google’s powerful infrastructure to create map and earth imagery layers from raster data

• Render 2D & 3D Maps: Create custom applications by rendering maps in 2D and 3D experiences.

• Style & Tile: Leverage Google Maps rendering technology to create richly styled tiles from vector data sets.

• Publish Maps: Publish your data and access it easily using Google Earth, GIS applications and embedded on websites.

• Query Data: Run spatial queries against your data hosted on the platform.

• Share & Discover Data: Share maps directly with your collaborators and customers or share them with the world in Google Earth Gallery.

• Scale on demand: Google Maps Engine runs on the same platform that powers other Google products, so there is no plan for extra capacity upfront. You just scale as required and pay for extra capacity as required.
